Live Closed Captioning Frequently Asked Questions
Last Updated: May 11, 2023
A live captioning professional can offer a higher level of caption quality and accuracy than automated captioning, thus having a direct, positive effect on Attendees' access and their Event experience.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
Making sure all of your Attendees can access your Events and customize their experience as it best suits them is a priority for EventBuilder. We work continually to design our products and services for everyone to access and enjoy without barriers. EventBuilder's Captioning service is compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
For ordering instructions, please visit: Closed Captioning: EventBuilder Streaming.
Live captioning is available for EventBuilder Streaming Events.
Professional captioning can be ordered for On-Demand mode. Please allow five days for caption file delivery.
The Live Captioning service can be ordered on a per-event basis for $300 per hour.
By default, captioning is displayed in English for an English-speaking presenter.
Select languages are available for additional charge of $100 per hour. To learn more, please contact services@eventbuilder.com.
In advance of your Event, we recommend providing any content related assets to assist with the accuracy of the captions, such as:
- Slide deck (a draft version is acceptable)
- Event description
- Presenter names and correct spellings
Please send materials to our Accessibility Team: services@eventbuilder.com
The day of your Event, a live captioning professional will dial in to join your Teams Meeting approximately 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
Please have the Event day contact confirm the captioner is able to hear the pre-conference and do the start/stop cueing below.
• Before starting the stream, queue your captioner by saying: "We will be live in 3 – 2 – 1."
• To end captioning, queue your captioner by saying: "You may now disconnect."
At the time of your live Event, captions will appear in the EventBuilder stream when enabled by the Attendee. Captions may also be accessed via the pop-out window(s) provided in your confirmation email.
If your recorded content is uploaded to EventBuilder and streamed from the Moderator console, no live captions will accompany the recording.
If the recorded content is being shared via the Presenter's Teams desktop, live captions will be included.
